My wife and I have had food allergies for many years. We have been label readers for most of our lives.
Recently I was told that I should avoid foods containing wheat because I have a diagnosed allergy to it. This required a bunch of research and led to some dead ends, some bad advice, some very good food and some surprising insight. If we have a community sharing information we can avoid buying and tasting some of the food alternatives which leave a bad taste in your mouth.
It is possible to make wheat free versions of some food that are every bit as good as traditional methods.
Because we have a variety of allergies, this site will have recipes about other allergies as well.
This site is dedicated to helping people who need or want to eliminate some ingredients from their diets.
I intend to share recipes, sources of ingredients, and review products. There are sites on the web that will be of interest to anyone who needs to substitute ingredients but they can be hard to find.
I hope that readers of the site will also submit information to help myself and others.
Although this site is primarily about food allergies, I have no problems with a recipe which does not eggs because the person who is to eat it is vegan by preference even if it would not make that person physically ill.
Let me know what you think, and remember to always read your labels.
